First off, Reiki is not a religion. It doesn’t require you to subscribe to a particular faith, nor does it require that you hold a certain level of spiritual awareness. Reiki can be learned and practiced by anyone. Known as a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation, Reiki also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

Life force energy or “Ki” flows within the physical body via pathways including chakras, meridians and nadis. When your Ki is balanced and flowing freely it is able to support and nourish vital organ functions and you experience good health. If your Ki is restricted, or unable to flow properly you are susceptible to fatigue, stress, depression, and illness. Reiki facilitates the free flowing of life force energy though the affected parts of the energy field- charging them with positive or good energies that allow your inner God or Goddess to shine.

Everyone responds to Reiki differently and depending upon the receivers conditions, symptoms, openness, and sensitivity to life force energy, every experience will be different. However, clients usually experience common sensations including: heat, cold, vibration, tingling, and heaviness. During a Reiki session most receivers are able to let go of stress and tension. Feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through the entire body that creates a feeling of inner peace. Overall the receiver usually feels refreshed with a more positive, harmonious outlook. It is not uncommon for the effect of Reiki to last for several days. However, in some instances the receiver may need a couple of sessions to become aware of the result. Regardless if the result is noticeable to the receiver or not, the practitioner is a vessel that helps facilitate an energetic shift in the receiver’s mind, body, and Spirit that can help restore balance for total health and well-being.

It is important to note that life force energy is responsive to thoughts and feelings. Your energy becomes disrupted when you accept, either consciously or unconsciously, negative thoughts or feelings about the world, yourself, and others. These negative thoughts and feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause disruption in the flow of life force energy which can diminish the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body.

As a Reiki practitioner, I have witnessed the impact Reiki has had on clients and experienced the healing benefits of Reiki first hand. Remember Reiki isn’t a religion, nor does it require you to subscribe to a certain belief system. Reiki is however, recommended for anyone who wants to integrate a simple healing practice into their daily routine to improve overall health and well being. Reiki can be combined with other practices and healing modalities, including Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and meditation. My philosophy is the more you know, the more you grow!

  1. Thank you for sharing Cornelia. I’m very glad to hear that Reiki brought you relief and healing.

Sending you lots of Love & Light,

  2. I can only recommend Reiki. I had it twice, so far. After the first session my shoulder pain had disappeared and after the second session my knee pain.
